Imagine a white male teacher in a black neighborhood, teaching black kids in the public school. And what is he teaching? History. American history. A history that is full of conflicts and racial issues. Like what Don (the white history teacher) said: history is about opposite powers. He, as a superior social figure (teacher, white, male), even how he depised the system, he was deeply invloved in it, just like the kids showed up in school--- everyone was a participant. Don helped himself get through the day by taking drugs, the white powder sucked into the nose. The opposite power--- a little black girl in the class, who helped to sell the drugs, came to his rescue. 

這部電影剛看還蠻depressing的，因為主角Don那張臉。。。。雖很英俊但一直看起來很累（吸毒吸得太high.......）。30多歲白人歷史老師 with awful skills in relationships，在黑人公立學校教書，過著家貓也突然暴斃的陰慘生活。最終因為與學生的情誼，有個溫馨的結尾。

本片帶到美國歷史的種族問題，（無法想像黑人爭平等與獲得尊重只是最近的事......）現實的學校生活，毒品等議題。

它不刻意醜化或美化，用手動camera營造記錄片feel.......

唉～好像Sundance特愛這種現實溫馨片耶。
